Progress Made

We have made a little progress. We have found a clinic here that will work with us and receiving embryos from another clinic. I talked to the embryo donation nurse at the clinic for about 45 min and she is fabulous and I felt so comfortable talking to her. This is the drs office we went to for our second opinion consult. The cost is even low and they work with a local attorney whose fees are not outrageous.

Now time to work on getting the money into a savings account until the time comes when we are chosen by a couple. I'm going to be working on making Christmas cards to sell and we'll be using the money I make from them towards the transfer and meds.

We are really excited about this and I am forever grateful to Sarah for suggesting this. Love ya girl!

42

That is how many times our profile has been viewed on miracleswaiting. But no emails yet.

We are still hoping to meet the couple we connected with through Sarah when we visit. But we will leave it in Gods hands.

The waiting game is quite interesting. We wonder if we'll catch that 1% chance that cycle or if we will be choosen to carry adopted embryos. But we are still keeping quite busy.

On the embryo adoption front I have found a clinic in our city that will receive embryos from another clinic. I am still waiting to hear from the clinic in which we used for the first IVF and I've been playing phone tag with another clinic.

I still need to work on getting in touch with some lawyers and choose one so that when we need to get the contracts done we are set to go with an attorney we feel comfortable with.

Other than that not much new to report on that front.

A new different Blog

I have started a new blog. The new one will be all about my journey through weight loss. I have found it helpful to say what I'm eating and what exercise I'm getting. Maybe it might just help someone else along the way.

Different Trips to the Same Place

A blog I follow posted this and I really wanted it to share because it really explains our infertility journey perfectly.

Different Trips to the Same Place

Deciding to have a baby is like planning a trip to Australia. You’ve heard it’s a wonderful place. You’ve read many guidebooks and feel certain you’re ready to go. Everyone you know has traveled there by plane. They say it can be a turbulent flight with occasional rough landings, but you can look forward to being pampered on the trip.

So you go to the airport and ask the ticket agent for a ticket to Australia. All around you, excited people are boarding planes for Australia. It seems there is no seat for you; you’ll have to wait for the next flight. Impatient, but anticipating a wonderful trip, you wait-and wait- and wait.

Flights to Australia continue to come and go. People say silly things like, “Relax. You’ll get on a flight soon.” Other people actually get on a plane and then cancel their trip, to which you cry, “It’s not fair”.

After a long time the ticket agent tells you, “I’m sorry, we’re not going to be able to get you on a plane to Australia. Perhaps you should think about going by boat.”

“By Boat!” you say, “Going by boat will take a very long time and costs a great deal of money. I really had my heart set on going by plane.” So you go home and think about not going to Australia at all. You wonder if Australia will be as beautiful if you approach it by sea rather than air. But you have long dreamed of this wonderful place, and finally you decide to travel by boat.

It is a long trip, many months over many rough seas. No one pampers you. You wonder if you will ever see Australia. Meanwhile, your friends have flown back and forth to Australia two or three times, marveling about each trip.

Then one glorious day, the boat docks in Australia. It is more exquisite that you ever imagined, and the beauty is magnified by your long days at sea. You have made many wonderful friends during your voyage, and you find yourself comparing stories with others who also traveled by sea rather than by air.

People continue to fly to Australia as often as they like, but you are able to travel only once, perhaps twice. Some say things like, “Oh be glad you didn’t fly. My flight was horrible, traveling by sea is so easy.”

You will always wonder what it would have been like to fly to Australia. Still, you know God blessed you with a special appreciation of Australia, and the beauty of Australia is not in the way you get there, but in the place itself.-Author Unknown

Carter's Birthday

Tomorrow we are having Carter's birthday here at the house. He'll be a wopping 32yrs old on Monday. I was a little stressed today trying to get all my errands run and ended up in the Pedi chair :)

So what was accomplished today in preparation for the party? Hmmmm well I went to pick up my new glasses, had lunch with dad, picked up my check from work, picked up Cart's final bday present, and got my pedicure. Then went to Zum.ba again and then finally went to Sams to get stuff for the party. Hmmm so can you see why I was stressed....I got absolutely nothing done to prepare for the party except made it to Sams.

The party is at 3 tomorrow and I have so much to do. But yet I sit here on the Computer just tired from today. In the morning we need to clean the house, set up the gazebo, I have 6 flowers that need to make it into the ground in the AM, Zum.ba is at 11, home to get ready, pick up the cake and other things at Pub.lix. Oh not to mention we still need to get Carter's birthday buddy Ron a present....not sure what that will be yet. Oh and since I don't have time to make cards I'll be store buying them. I'm really sad about that. Then I still have to wrap his presents. Guess I should head to bed before getting stressed even more.

If I get stressed because of a 32yr olds birthday can you imagine me with planning our childrens parties.

Zum.ba

On Wednesday I tried Zum.ba for the very first time at our gym. I absolutely loved this class. It was very upbeat and a great workout. I love to dance and would do it more often if it didn't mean going to a smoke filled club. Actually sometimes at work people will see me dancing and laugh. Lets just say white girl trying to dance. :)

Zum.ba is latin based and truly fabulous. If you ever have a chance to try it I highly recommend that you do.

Since I'm talking about exercise in the form of dance I should update on the weight.loss. I have officially lost all the infer.tility treat.ment weight. However when I was taking clomid at the beginning of the year I really think that plateau'd my weight. So now that I've stopped using clomid I'm hoping the weight will start to come off again. I am only 2 cycles post clomid. I'm hoping to be down at least another 10lbs before our trip to Seattle. Have I mentioned lately I am totally excited about meeting Sarah's little man for the first time. Golly he's a year old already! Only about 4 1/2 more weeks. :)

The Half Way Mark

I was thinking that we are half way through summer and over half way done with 2009. We've had a busy summer so far and even through we are in the middle we will still be busy the rest of the summer.

Next weekend we will be celebrating Carts 32nd birthday and just hanging out. It will be a fun filled weekend.

During one of the following 2 weekends we will be getting our family pictures done by a HS friend Fry Photography. We'll be headed to St. Augustine to use some of the historic buildings as back drops. On Aug 7th we'll be headed to the Ken.ny Ches.ney Concert that Cart bought us tickets to for my birthday. Quite excited about that.

Then the weekend of Aug 15th we'll be preparing to travel to Seattle. Very excited about that trip and now Cart is going with me. But due to us deciding later that he was coming we are actually flying out on two different flights.

Then comes September. I've been working ALOT lately and that is making time fly so I know our vacay will be around the corner. This Seattle trip will be the first time Cart will visit there. So it will be even better. But I'm so excited as all get to meet Sarah's little man for the first time.

In recent news we have posted our ad on Miracles Waiting and hope to be matched with someone to donate their extra embryos to us. We are so excited about this option and I must thank womb4onemore for leaving us a comment and thus leading us to this site. This option gives us such renewed hope to become parents. So look for updates on this journey. Once we are matched with another couple we will be doing the FET as soon as possible! Which is different than what we had originally thought we'd do.

Once again Thank you All for your support as we go through this journey.

56 Days...No Really!

Just a reminder although I have talked more about our daily lives this too is about our infertility journey and all that comes with it. (so parents you may want to stop reading here)

Many of you ladies who have gone through the infertility journey will totally understand this post. Aunt Flo last graced me with her presence in May! Yes the middle of May! Between that time I have had a false positive, 2 negative blood tests and a negative urine test at the doctors. Finally after 56 days (8wks) the witch finally decided to show up. She didn't call before she came, she didn't knock nicely. No this nasty visitor pounded loudly and squeezed tightly.

When I had the false positive after being "late" they did the blood tests and told me if she didn't arrive by week 8 they would put me on meds to make her come. I'm not sure if I should be happy she came on her own or not. Not really sure which one would be worse at this point.

What else comes with the witch especially after so long....emotions!!! I've told myself over and over that I have come to the realization that we are an infertile couple. Well in the doctors office (the GP) he asked what I thought had been causing the rash of symptoms I told him possibly all the hormone injections. He then asked me how I felt about our infertility and if it was a souce of anxiety. I actually teared up for the first time in a while. I fought them back and brushed them aside.

I have this feeling that it might be time to talk to someone about all of this because maybe I'm not over it. Do you ever really come to terms with it? I've been saying that if we don't have kids of our own then we'll just get to travel more but I'm not sure I'll be happy with that.

In my last post we talked about Embryo adoption. We had discussed if we did this we'd wait until we saved up the funds to do the transfer. But we have been told that I might not have that great of an egg reserve and the even longer cycles i think helps that theory. Doesn't the body stop cycling when you have no more eggs? If that''s the case then my window to even transfer embryos would be closing sooner than later.

So the question is what to do? This all maybe more of the emotion associated with a very unfriendly friend but who knows.
