7 months and ramblings

This Friday we'll have been officially waiting 7 months. (I'm not sure why the ticker is so off). At this point we haven't heard much from our agency. Our homestudy hasn't been written up yet. Which at this point is of no surprise to me. I'm still working on our website, however with internship having started it's been slightly put on the back burner :( If you would like to see it you can go to http://www.carterandkebrina.net/ but please be warned it is still under construction.

So far internship is going great. I'm learning a lot and today I started teaching science. Next week will be Social Studies as well. I'm not sure what I'll be teaching after that.

Life has been busy and I don't have much time to do anything other than eat, sleep, internship, lesson planning and homework. While I love internship and being around the littles Dec 2nd can't come soon enough. Then Dec 16th is the magic day when my degree is conferred and I can apply for any open teaching positions or long term sub jobs.

Bullet Post

I have varied topics to talk about today so I thought a bullet post was neccesary. Here goes:

• I've been diligently working on the website. Building a website is harder then I thought it would be. However, It is a lot of fun minus the frustration. As soon as I think it is world worthy I will post it. I have bits and pieces live on the www however only select few have seen it to offer suggestions.



• The nursery is still coming along. The closet is almost finished. He put in the base boards on Saturday and we'll be hanging the clothing rods in the coming weeks. We need to figure out how to house the modem in the room. We have U.ver.se with a.t.t however the modem and backup battery are housed in the babies room. I'll be visiting IK.EA while we are in Orlando to try to find something.



• I did find these awesome book shelves on ik.ea's website, so I hope to purchase them when we are there.



• The babies dresser is also coming along. It is completely sanded and we will start staining it shortly. I picked out drawer pulls but the holes need to be adjusted because modern pulls are not as wide as pulls from back then.



• We are headed to Orlando for 4 days of relaxation in the coming weeks. We are excited to just chill out and lay by the pool. We may or may not go to a park. We are just going to go with the flow.



• I start internship in a few weeks. This will be very similar to a full time job from Aug 25th to Dec 2nd. I will be at the school from 730 to 4pm working with 1st graders. I'm so excited to be near the end and so close to graduation and having my own classroom.

Website

First a back story. Our agency has a website that features profiles of adoptive parents in waiting. We are still not on this site. I'm working on gettng our information to the agency so they can do this. Apparently our social worker didn't realize that she was the one who was suppose to request the information from us. So we've been waiting 5 months without this type of exposure. I have viewed some of the other families profiles and have noticed that some of them have included a link to other sites...i.e. blogs, photos hosting sites etc.

So Cart and I decided that we will be building a website for the world to see. It is mainly for the adoption and for networking on our end. After the site is up it will be included on our agency's site and we will also email it to all of our friends and family. I thought about putting it on our back window like another adoptive momma did, but I already have my business info on the back of the car.

The awesome thing is a friend from high school is going to help me with the building. She is going to show me how to build the site and to upload it to our hosting site. Then after that I should be able to maintain it myself. As soon as we are up and running I will post it here. To do that I will be telling you all my real name. Many of my readers already know, but the website address is basically mine and Cart's name. I know very creative :)
